The Exact Printing and Packaging Rotax Juniors were the second group to run on Grange’s 8/10ths of a mile course, with Cameron Jocelyn putting himself on pole, just edging Jamie Bennett and Kenny Maler – in typical Gatorz Cup fashion, the three were separated by less than three tenths of a second. Bennett, however, took the lead at the start, with Race Liberante moving up to second and Jocelyn falling back to third. Jocelyn moved quickly by Liberante for second, and found his way past Bennett on the final lap of the 15 lap race to take the win. Bennett finished second while Taylor Castle finished third, and ran the quickest lap.

It was Castle, however, who muscled his way to the front of the field at the start of the Final, after Bennett fouled  plug on the pace lap. He was followed by Jocelyn and Jackie Weiss. Castle held off the advances of Jocelyn for the first twelve laps, but Jocelyn moved into the lead on the thirteenth lap and would not be denied the victory. Second and third position, however, were not so clear cut. The battle for third place began early, as Weiss lost it to Maler on the second lap, who then gave it up to Jeff Pesner on the third. Maler passed Pesner to reclaim the position three laps later, and was then passed by Liberante for the position.

Tri-C Karters April

Moran raceway, Beaumont Ca. site of Tri-C`s 2nd round started off wet. The race was declared a rain race allowing all competitors to run their choice of tires. The track was wet and it was raining, the skies looked threaten. Lydia went with rain tires for the 1st and only practice. Cameron was fast and kept the car on the track good news as off track it was very muddy, the clean up would have been intense. The track dried out by qualifying but Cameron went with a radical set up, the result was an 11th place qualifying spot. The up side is he figured out what he did wrong with the set up and had a good idea what to do for the race. In the pre main Cameron struggled but in the main he came alive (the old Cameron came back) he worked from his 7th starting spot to a 2nd place finish; It is great to have Cameron back. We will be off to California speedway for the LAKC race next week. Take care..

Round II IKF

Las Vegas NV. Buffalo Bill`s casino,

Round two of the region 7 IKF series went off with a bang. Most of the fears of the racers and teams were put to rest as the weekend got going. The racetrack was tight, bumpy, and fairly short, but it was after all in a parking lot, and was the same for everyone. The layout looked a bit dangerous but as the karts hit the Friday practice sessions it all worked out fine. The track was ever changing and we had a tough time staying a head of the changes
Cameron was fast on Friday in practice, but with the track ever changing he struggled on Saturday with the Jr Super box after getting caught up in a first lap crash he was only able to salvage a 16th
On Sunday he had his share of misfortunes but after starting 20th on the first lap of the main event he was able to pick his way to an 11th place finish, He fell to 3rd in the points but it is a long season.
One of the best things about the weekend was watching the kids play after the day at the track.
It was cool to see 10 yr olds playing along side the 15yr olds and I think some of the older kids had the most fun. I hope we get to go

The IKF Region 7 opener started at California Speedway, Fontana Ca.

Cameron had a great weekend, He ran Junior Super Sportsman on Saturday and with a qualifying run that put him in 8th place for the pre final. He had a good run in the pre final to move up to 5th. With Cameron’s input we  were able to work on the set up of the Kart  for the main. In the main event Cameron worked through traffic to catch the lead pack . He put himself in a great spot to run for the win. With one lap to go Cameron had a shot at 2nd when the 2nd and 3rd place karts were a bit over aggressive,  he had a better run off of the hair pin but had to check up to miss a crashing car. He was able to save a 3rd place finish!!

On Sunday he raced in the HPV 2 class.

Cameron started off fast in the morning warm up but we tried a few things for the 2nd practice session, we were still fast but Cameron thought we could make the kart better. Cameron wanted a few changes prior to qualifying, we made a drastic change just before qualifying,  normally we would not make such a change without having an opportunity to test the change but Cameron wanted it and felt he could put the kart on the pole. Cameron had the fastest time up until the last session when Donny StOurs nabbed it by just .011 of a second, the field was set with the top 28 qualifiers with in .779 seconds.

Cameron ran second in the pre final with his team mate Taylor Miinch working his way to the front spot. This made it a Birel front row for the main event. Cameron likes the outside starting spot at California Speedway, he got the jump and led all 20 laps to grab his first regional win as a Junior driver!!!!!!

We will be racing in Beaumont this Saturday at the Tri-C club race then off to Buttonwillow for the opening round of the Gatorz Rotax Championship.

October 20th, 2005 In the 2005-2006 IKF series Cameron will be running in a Birel in Hpv 2 and Shifter classes.
August 21st, 2005 Cameron was at the Shifter Grand Nationals in Atwater, California.  It was a long 3 days for us at the track. Zach Zimmerly was very quick and we had a lot of time to catch up.  Cameron qualified 3rd and in the prefinal he had something to give to Zach but then his cart tightened up and he ended up 2nd.  In the main Cameron got the green light and didn't have his cart in first gear and ended up starting last with everyone going through turn one before he got the cart going.  That was pretty dramatic considering it was a 31 sec track.  Cameron made a good recovery and finished 3rd.  Congratulations to Zach for the win, Taylor Miinch for 2nd coming from the back and a well deserved 4th for Kolby Araki. Our next race will be at Willow Springs Kart Club in Rosamond, CA on September 3 & 4.
